IECEx (International Electrotechnical Commission System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres) at Laserman

The EX d housing had been developed initially for Ex proof lightings. This development has been expanded and modified during the years in such a way we can build all laser distance meters into this housing to make them suitable for almost any ATEX and IECEx certification required for Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22.

"I have done some major investigation into the Ex market the past years and started up a couple of cooperation’s with partners that will enable us to make almost any Z-Laser product suitable to be used in an Explosive Atmosphere.

As long as your laser is a class 1 or class 1M laser, I don’t foresee any big challenges to built your lasers into these Ex d housings. However, you have to keep in mind the housing weighs almost 10 kg and compared to most of your lasers this housing will be a major overkill to be able to make it Ex suitable. However, for the ZQ1 series the size of this housing is favourable and could definitely be an interesting option.

A rule of thumb to take into consideration. If the footprint of the ZQ1 laser fits the mounting bracket, the laser is certified within Class 1 or Class 1M after optics and electrical power dissipation is limited to meet the specified limits of the following table (powered @ 24Vdc), then I don’t foresee why we couldn’t built your lasers into this housing:

If you require an Ex proof solution for Class 2 (and up) lasers, then I still think it could be possible, however we then have to expand the scope of the certificate and reissue the ATEX and IECEx certificate that applies for this housing. This is a pretty costly process. I am convinced there will be more interesting options to consider, you will only not find them on our website, because it are custom made solutions which are not standardized as with this housing and sensors.

Especially for your standard range of small industrial lasers, such as the ZX, ZM12, ZM18 series and so on and so on, I believe there are more interesting possibilities to consider."
